Beauty, intimacy, creativity and kindness are things I cherish in life. This is a photo of me with my husband, Justin, on our wedding day. Nothing helps you cherish a memory more than a photograph. The way they tell our stories is an enduring mystery of life that captured my imagination at an early age. I grew up in the countryside of Tennessee and loved riding around as a kid taking photos with a Nikon my dad gave me for my sixteenth birthday. Through college and getting my M.F.A. in photography from Washington University in St. Louis, I've never put the camera down. Photographs are how I honor and understand people. When I photograph your wedding, I try to see it through your eyes and capture as many amazing photographs as possible, the big moments and the small moments.
My approach to photographing your wedding is a combination of photojournalism and naturalistic portraiture.
Throughout the day I capture genuine moments as they spontaneously unfold. Nothing is more satisfying as a photographer than anticipating a moment just before it happens and capturing it in an image. It's often the in-between moment, the unposed photo, that captures the love, vibrancy and authenticity of your wedding.
At the same time I love doing portraits on the day of the wedding. I take a very naturalistic approach to working with couples and I love making portraits which become heirlooms for your family. It's an honor to photograph your family and wedding party. I know weddings are often a once in lifetime moment to capture photographs of the people you love most in the world. Capturing photos of your loved ones is at the top of my list on the wedding day. Through all of this, my eye always gravitates to moments that are tender and full of joy.
I married in June of 2017 and I know all the work couples put into their weddings, I’m there to honor you. I want you to be yourself completely and have fun on your big day!
